What Happens When You’re Born Again?

Is there anyone in America who has not heard the term born-again? While most of us know the concept, few people understand what it means for our lives. Even fewer Christians appreciate their own new birth experience. They struggle with shallow spiritual lives, going from high to low, never wholly moving into God’s promised victory.

The world has hijacked the term born-again changing its meaning to include any enlightenment experience. If we break a habit, we are born-again, or if we received enlightenment, we are born again. By the world’s standards, it does not take much to be born-again. However, Jesus made it clear to Nicodemus that one must be born of water (the human birth) and the Spirit (spiritual birth), . . .Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  (John 3:5,6). Unless we are born of the (1)Spirit, which brings life to our own dead (2)spirit, we are not saved.

Spiritual birth is the most important event in our lives. We can have all the good things: a happy marriage, children, education, a successful career, money, property, friends, or any of the many benchmarks of success, and fail to be born-again.
